Babcock Rail are currently looking to recruit a Finance Director, who will contribute fully as a Business Unit leadership team member, to the overall strategy, direction and 5YP delivery of the business unit - including investment support identification and appraisal.

In this role you will lead and develop a high-performance BU finance team, as part of the Babcock Team Finance, also providing financial, and wider business leadership, to the BU and sector; while at the same time developing and delivering key strategic capabilities to deliver future growth of the business.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for a motivated and driven individual who has strong people management and leadership skills, with the ability to maximise financial performance and growth. You will need proven experience in leading within a complex international multisite organisation, coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

What will you be doing?
Your main duties will include:

* Ensure financial governance and controls, reporting deliverables, and operational support requirements of the BU and sector are met.
* Set, monitor, and challenge contract and business performance against the agreed 5YP and in year budgets - working with colleagues to ensure that financial targets (revenue, profit, cash and order book) are met, ensuring timely identification of course correct actions and mitigations where needed.
* Manage the production of timely, transparent and accurate financial deliverables to meet the needs of the sector and Babcock Group.
* Promote and drive collaboration across the sector and Babcock finance - to contribute to improvement in growth and efficiency.
* Actively seek collaboration and knowledge sharing with BU across Babcock.
* Build relationships with senior customer finance contacts to support collaboration and growth.
* Provide financial support to activities related to tenders and new business opportunities - ensuring that all contractual and pricing governance requirements are met.
* Ensure that the BU structures, processes and controls are fit for the future - not just for the current business requirements.

The experience you'll bring

* Experience of working in a senior finance role.
* Proven success in maximising financial performance and growth.
* Experience of combining financial and commercial capabilities to maximise value and manage risk across the business.
* Robust investment appraisal experience.
* Financial reporting and technical accounting experience.
* Proven experience of leading within a complex international multisite organisation.
* Experience of commercial and procurement issues and advanced corporate awareness in relation to costs, risks and margins, and business opportunities.
* Experience of long-term commercial contracts and bid processes.
* Experience of managing cash flow.
* Knowledge of financial accounting, reporting and legal standards.

What a role with Babcock offers?

* Generous holiday entitlement
* Bonus
* Competitive money purchase pension scheme with life assurance
* Share ownership scheme
* Access to make a difference for a sustainable environment for future
* A tailored personal development and training programme.
* Autonomy. Trusted and empowered to deliver and be your best.
* We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
