As a Marine Mechanical Fitter within Babcock's commercial Commissioning team you will support Babcock's current and future ship design and build programmes, including future export variants and other ship build, refit, and commercial opportunities in the pipeline.

You will be responsible for installation, test, evaluation, and acceptance of equipment in a wide range of applications.

The ability to establish and maintain relationships with Clients, Classification Society surveyors and internal and external stakeholders and to promote a quality culture will be key to successful project delivery and future business

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for a Marine Mechanical Fitter with critical thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. You should also have excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills and the ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet rigorous acceptance standards

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities will include:
* Analyse problems related to plant and support system issues, generate & submit solutions complete with all documentation and seek appropriate signatures & approvals as required
* Monitor progress, record test results, witness final testing and acceptance of equipment consistent with design, performance, safety, quality and technical specifications
* Ensuring all documents meet project configuration control and Quality Assurance processes.
* Installation and testing and of mechanical systems plant, equipment and installations to verify performance in accordance with project & programme requirements, technical and user specifications
* Collate, compile and format all technical and operational documentation for inclusion in the test dossier and for hand over to customer or stakeholders
* Ensure test equipment is maintained and remains in calibration throughout use during test activities.
* Investigate, diagnose and research problems and issues, gather information from a range of physical and informational sources, review defects to gain a complete understanding of problems and relevant circumstances.

The experience you'll bring
* F-Gas experience and certification highly desirable
* Experience in pneumatic and hydro testing of structural vessels, piping systems and load testing of mechanical lifting devices, eye plates and link plates desirable
* Experience in installation and testing of plant, equipment and installations
* Experience of Maintenance Procedures, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work
* You should hold or have the ability to obtain SC clearance
