An exciting opportunity to join Cavendish Nuclear as a Senior Mechanical Designer supporting the Hinkley Point C project. You will be responsible for preparing drawings & other documentation for the piping required for the project.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer with a good understanding of engineering and design practices as relevant to the design discipline including appropriate CAD skills, written and verbal communications skills.


What will you be doing?

As Senior Mechanical Designer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring delivery of all Piping deliverables using 3D CAD and associated applications used in discipline design work executed under the contract or project.
  • Implementation of fit for purpose Layout & Detailing tasks, associated documentation and management of time.
  • Producing fully dimensioned details and assembly drawings suitable for, but not limited to, fabrication, other engineering disciplines, construction and shipping.
  • Appreciation of codes and standards - BS/EN/ASME.
  • Ability to interpret relevant arrangement and assembly drawings whether internal or from other sources.
  • Working effectively and proactively within a multidiscipline team. Your role may include some managerial duties.

The experience you'll bring

  • ONC/HNC or BTEC National Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) or appropriate apprenticeship of specialisation
  • Proven Piping & Equipment layout & design exposure, with sound knowledge of other disciplines (Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Civil and Structural).
  • Experience of CAD tools - PDMS and AutoCAD, experience of Spoolgen beneficial
  • Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice
  • Communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines
  • Ideally you will have some managerial experience

You must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks
