The Ministry Stores Controller role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role


The difference our new Ministry Stores Controller will make
As a Ministry Stores Controller, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll set a policy for the management of GFE in DRDL and ensure compliance with all customer's rules and requirements, including all relevant DEFSTANs, DEFCONs and JSPs.


Day to day, you'll represent the company at audits undertaken by the DIA or other bodies re GFE, maintain a relationship with the DIA, influence MoD policy and review updates to relevant DEFSTANs, DEFCONs and JSPs, access MoD contracts, understand and interpret MoD policies and apply them to the Company and ensure compliance of the business, through training, snap checks and periodic reviews.

Essential experience

* Experience within the Defence industry
* Managing or handling defence equipment stores
* Good level of IT literacy (Microsoft Suite i.e. Excel, Access).
* Good experience of MoD IT systems ideally.
* You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
