Babcock Rail are currently recruiting for a Bid Commercial Manager to act as the commercial lead for Company bids, supporting all tendering activities, securing long term frameworks and contracts, commercially focussed on Terms and Conditions. Int this role you will develop and maintain long term strategic client, supply chain and business function relationships, while at the same time working with the customer to determine the most suitable commercial models.

We are looking for a forward thinking and positive individual who is an analytical thinker with a methodical approach, you will be fully committed to the success of the Company with a 'can do' and reliable attitude.

What will you be doing?
Your main duties will include:

* Senior member of the commercial team, who contributes in the development, improvement, and implementation of effective commercial controls and strategy within the business.
* Commercial lead for Company bids with particular emphasis on developing innovative and competitive commercial solutions in line with Company and client outcomes.
* Participate and contribute in client workshops or other tender related events.
* Lead commercial negotiations with the client ensuring all commercial negotiations / agreements are in line with the Babcock Group Contracting Principles and Legal Framework.
* Contribute to (or lead where relevant) the presentation of commercial solutions to the Company as part of the gated bid winning process.
* Ensure terms and conditions of all contracts (including sub-contractors / suppliers) are reviewed and appropriately qualified at tender stage to maintain adequate risk protection.
* Ensure the commercial position established at bid stage is effectively handed-over and communicated to the project commercial leads, supporting with contract mobilisation where appropriate.

The experience you'll bring

* Ideally suited to an individual with a commercial background in construction
* Relevant degree
* Member of an appropriate professional body
* Understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g. NEC3/4, ICC, FIDIC etc.)
* Comfortable negotiating terms and conditions and commercial solutions
* Effective communicator (verbal and written) at all levels, comfortable presenting to clients
* Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders
* Experience working in a bid winning environment and to tight timescales/deadlines
