My client is looking for Business Development Managers with Air Freight. They are a Global Freight Forwarding Company with exciting opportunities available. This position is to develop and create a robust sales pipeline with a regular focus across key vertical markets such as Aerospace, Electronics, and Healthcare.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Develop prospects into new business and close contracts with a minimum value of 100,000 kgs per annum per customerHunt for new business opportunities with 'new to DB Schenker' prospects through market research and cold calling.Handle enquiries, RFIs, RFQs, and tenders from receipt to presentation and subsequent closing of these game-changing opportunitiesCollaborate with Air Product team to ensure appropriate value propositions are developed and executed to customersSupport the strategic development of the air business unit in the UKConfidently present solutions to prospective and existing customers which are class-leading and complement DB Schenker standards which create value and lead to new business winsEnsure new business quoted is consistent with internal financial guidelines
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company's unique selling propositions and competitive differentiators.
- Identify and target potential major clients, namely the decision makers within the client organization Develop an understanding of Customer Needs and Challenges - what is driving the customer decisions.
- Work with the company tender management department as requiredDocument accounts, activities and opportunities on CRM tool
- Appreciation of costs of operations to allow winning proposals to be created.Liaise with head of solution design to support the effective use of company standard cost models
- Work with the divisional Financial Controller to support Investment Applications where necessary.
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven sales track record of gaining new major business and successfully working to and exceeding Sales TargetsSolid background in Air or multimodal freight forwarding; previous experience in operations would be advantageous.Identifying new major business opportunities and the ability to close successfullyKnowledge of working with large and complex tenders which lead to sizeable customer opportunities.Experience in our key vertical markets is desirable such as Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Consumer & Retail, Healthcare, and Industrial
