An exciting opportunity has arisen in Yeovil BA20 (please note this a ITAR site) for Project engineers to join our client on a full-time temporary basis to December 2022. Working 8:00 - 5:00 Monday to Thursday and 8:00 -12:00 on Fridays payrate between £26.00 -£28.59 per hour. This will be a hybrid role with 3 dyas at the office and two at home.

**A Drug screening is required, and DBS Check and our client's security check is required for all successful candidates prior to starting on site**

Job Description

ECS Systems Engineering at Aerospace Yeovil is the branch of engineering concerned with the design and development of potentially large and complex aircraft bleed air management systems, where a 'system' is understood to be an integration of subsystems or components working together toward a common objective. Core technologies include turbomachinery, electro-mechanical valves, heat exchangers and associated electronic controls.
Systems Engineering concentrates on the precise specification of system architecture and performance in order to satisfy customer requirements. The role of the Systems Project Engineer encompasses the complete product design and development life cycle including; System concept development, design, build, qualification, certification support and in-service support.
In addition, to be a key customer contact. The Systems Project Engineer may be required to lead global resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer's system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • The Systems Project Engineer will be responsible to the Systems Engineering Manager.
  • The Systems Project Engineer will be responsible for determining and deriving the technical requirements from the customer ensuring the compliance of the system and its products to the customer requirement documentation.
  • Experience in the capturing and definition and subsequent detailing of requirements is required.
  • The use of suitable requirement's capture software would be useful.
  • The role includes responsibility for the complete ECS system life cycle: systems requirements capture and management, air systems design, support to air systems modelling and performance testing.
  • Interpretation of air system test results and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Responsibility for defining the system level requirements includes requirements allocation to electronic controls and component level requirements Reporting of system design / development status to internal and external customers.
  • The Systems Project Engineer will liaise closely with other functions; Programme Management, Design, Chief Engineers, Development Engineers, Manufacturing and Customers as and when necessary.
  • Be able to produce system qualification test plan reports and procedures.

Skills and experience

  • Experience of component environmental & performance testing would be an advantage.
  • A good engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering is required.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic theory and practice would be useful.
  • Specific experience of working with air management systems would be useful. However, other relevant systems experience would also be taken into account and assessed on merit.
  • A strong background and experience of engineering practices, design and practical applications would be useful.
