The Buyer role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role


The difference our new Buyer will make
As a Buyer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. An exciting opportunity to undertake a Buyer role as a Job Share within the Naval Nuclear Supply Chain team.

Day to day, you'll commercially represent the company and provide support to the Babcock Marine and Technology Supply Chain in the provision of Goods and / or Services at the best total acquisition cost, consistent with the specified technical, quality assurance and delivery requirements which are critical to the success of this business.

Essential experience

* Ideally MCIPS qualified or working towards MCIPS qualification, however part qualification is acceptable and Lean Six Sigma certification is desirable.<Enter the essential skills / experience only here>
* Experience in use of MPS and MRP systems
* Understanding of operational and service related buying in highly pressurised environments
* Experience in a procurement and supply chain environment
* You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
