Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to ensure product specifications are defined in a cost-effective manner, undertaken to satisfy market requirements and minimising product diversity.
- Generation of three-dimensional designs of product and concepts.
- Working with external suppliers to establish effective solutions.
- Create accurate technical drawing for both purchased and manufactured components, complying to BS EN ISO 9001.
- Facilitate product 'mock ups' for approval.
- Ensure product design conforms to required product standard, e.g. BS6222: Part 2: Level H, by means of in-house structural testing.
- Create accurate bill of materials and product specification documentation.
- Answer technical questions from internal and external customers about product design and function.
- Identify product design improvements.
- Project Management, control the flow of projects through the factory across all relevant departments.
- Provide a point of contact for any problems/questions as the key knowledge holder for projects.
- Communicate with internal and external customers to resolve technical / quality issues.
- Design and documentation of internal/ external product related data including instruction sheets, manufacturing specifications and fitting instructions.

Experience
- Be used to working in cross functional teams to deliver projects
- Microsoft Office Packages
- Proficient user of AutoCAD and Inventor Software
- An ability to resolve problems when under pressure
- It is not essential but an advantage to have a:
- Comprehensive understanding of the AS400 system.
- Knowledge of regulations relating to furniture design and COSHH regulations.
- Lotus notes databases.
- A knowledge of furniture design and the component parts.
- An understanding of manufacturing processes.
