The Learning from Experience (LfE) Waterfront Specialist role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The difference our new Learning from Experience (LfE) Waterfront Specialist will make

Day to day, you'll improve maintenance planning and delivery performance. With a high level of customer service and inter personnel skills in order to achieve success. These skills must be used for effective communication with senior and multi-disciplined internal and external stakeholders. The role will place you central to the performance of the Submarine Support Engineering team, a centre of excellence for our professional engineering capability. Learning from Experience (LfE) is a through life process which enables organised learning by replicating success, avoiding mistakes and publicising and promoting best practice throughout the submarine enterprise. You will support the LfE Manager, and Submarine Programme Management team in improving maintenance planning and delivery performance. You will also communicate with your members at sister sites, to correlate and manage an enterprise-wide approach. Based in Devonport and responsible for capturing, managing and communicating LfE at the waterfront.

Essential experience

* Ideally an engineering background, or significant experience in Continuous Improvement (Lean /Six Sigma Improvement Methodologies)
* Excellent process experience and implementing LFE / maintenance planning improvements in the past.
* Open to individuals from different backgrounds and experiences.
* Willing to challenge yourself.
