An exciting opportunity has arisen in Chadderton for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our leading global wholesale distributor client. This is a temporary role for until November but could be extended for the correct candidate. Payrate is £15.18 per hour, Monday to Friday, 14:00 -22:00, 37.5 hour per week.
**Drug Screening, DBS and Criminal check will be conducted on all successful candidates**
Purpose of the Job
To lead a team of people, driving the delivery of Quality, Cost and Delivery targets by focusing on continuous Improvement, standardisation and by promoting a team-based culture.
Principal Responsibilities
- Managing People and Resources:
- Ability to cover Distribution Manager's absence.
- Act as a role model for team members and other Supervisors. - Behaviour
- Manage the allocation of work on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, controlling head count and overtime budgets.
- Establish the customer as the primary focus of the work of the Area.
- Assess training needs. Create and deliver skills training plans to ensure there is adequate day-to-day cover on the team and build flexibility for how team members can be utilised.
- Lead the housekeeping initiatives in the Area.
- Ensure Health and Safety standards are communicated and adhered to in the Area.
- Deliver and evaluate Health and Safety training to all team members
- Accident reporting
- Warehouse tours. Contractor controls where needed
- Staff workwear (PPE) is appropriately provided
- Training
- Updating Standard Operating Procedures manual
- Risk Assessment Review
- SOP Review
Key Skills
- Experience of leading, supervising or managing a team.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety
- Experience of working to targets Previous experience of working within Warehousing & Distribution, or similar
- Previous on-job training experience
- Team leadership and management skills
- Able to set and achieve deadlines & performance standards
- Ability to operate lifts & pump trucks
