Your purpose:

Playing a key role in driving systematic improvement in their aluminium extrusion and recycling plant. With the customer in mind to ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained to maximize operating efficiencies. You will need to be motivated, flexible, efficient in execution and be able to manage timelines. It is of key importance to with well with the operational teams as well as across the organisation.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • You will be responsible for managing the completion of ongoing PPMs in addition to any emergency or unforeseen breakdowns.
  • Duties include planning, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment and facilities.
  • Reporting to the Engineering Team Manager as well as working as part of a team throughout the site.
  • To drive positive continuous improvement.
  • Attendance of training courses when required.
  • You will need to demonstrate a flexible, creative approach to problems and troubleshooting.
  • You will be responsible for the associated administration of your work as well as the health & safety of your co-workers and yourself.
  • It is your responsibility and right to check that your co-workers are operating safely and if you were to have any doubts that these are to be reported to your line management team. It is essential that the job is then halted until a safe operator can be found, or to be recorded as a near-miss if the job has already taken place.
  • You will be always working with agreed risk assessments and safe systems of work. Where this does not exist due to the nature of the repair, to ensure that a two-minute risk assessment has been completed and that no person is allowed to operate machinery in which they do not have the current certification of training for.
  • Accurately and thoroughly carry out daily checks on essential plant, equipment and machinery as part of the company preventative maintenance schedule
  • To carry out major refurbishment of machinery, plant and equipment as directed.
  • To be available on a call out basis to provide cover in the event of emergency breakdowns.

Experience/ Characteristics:

  • Manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience from similar industries/positions is an advantage
  • Good English skills both orally and written
  • Good time management skills
  • Minimum ONC or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical discipline
  • Completed an Electrical and Mechanical apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of Motors, Gearboxes and Hydraulic systems
  • Exposure to PLC's- Not essential but preferred
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must have logical approach to fault finding
  • Previous experience from an industrial Engineering environment (Heavy plant equipment)
  • Able to read hydraulic drawings
  • Comfortable in a re-active and PPM environment
  • Positive attitude and work ethic
