Our client, a leading global FMCG company with brands such as PG Tips, are currently looking for W&D Operator (Machine Op Equivalent) to work in their prestigious facility in Trafford Park. This is a permanent position, with an immediate start. The pay rate will be Salary 3R: £27,234 plus. £6,438 flex allowance Salary Weekend: £27,234 plus. £5,376 W/E allowance
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with the desire to practice and improve their technical skills and knowledge, and who possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
The W&D Operator is responsible for carrying out general Warehouse & Distribution (W&D) operations for production and according to planned operational requirements to safely deliver a good quality packed product. As a core member of the production team, the W&D Operator plays an important role in maintaining warehouse and line safety and will identify process or line issues to leaders. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for the importance of maintaining high quality and hygiene standards and will ensure that they comply with safety standards and adhere to site regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Technical - Knowledge and application of technical skills to Operate machinery safely and effectively to meet the production plan. Conduct cleaning and lubrication as required.
- Possess a basic knowledge of the principles of mechanism, motion, and pneumatics.
- Maintain machinery to the prescribed standards and levels of cleanliness, understand properties of materials being handled. Able to perform correct adjustment and setting.
- Proactively work with Professional Maintenance and Quality Control staff to achieve zero breakdowns and zero defects.
- Carry out product and process changeovers/washouts to maintain quality standards whilst minimising the impact to the production plan.
- Safety -Utilise all appropriate safety and environmental procedures relating to the Sourcing Unit and allocated equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team. Understand the legal responsibility placed upon individuals.
- Food Safety - Understands related site documentation and the importance of food safety within a food manufacturing environment, reports unsafe practice and is proactive in approach to ensure safe products are produced.
- Workplace Hazards - Full knowledge of the workplace and hazards within it. Utilise all appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products, and equipment relevant to the task.
- Environment - Reduce costs due to waste and minimise impact to health, safety, and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials.
- Quality - Monitors quality against set standards and reports any product and packaging faults. Detects process abnormalities quickly and takes emergency action to prevent them.
- Problem Solving - A Working Knowledge of how to identify, prioritise and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence. Must demonstrate initiative.
- Decision Making - Can make decisions to reject non-compliant products and to support the work plan for the day.
- Teamwork - Must be a good team player capable of working within a highly effective team; responsible, supportive, and able communicator.
- Administration - Conducts effective hand-over activities and records accurately events that have occurred during shift (cases packed/ rejects/maintenance conducted etc).
- Physical Ability - W&D Operators require a level of agility to move quickly between workstations, ascend and descend steps. Assembly and control operations also require a level of hand eye coordination and finger dexterity.
Required Experience/Qualifications
- W&D Specific; Operating Counterbalance/Reach Truck Forklifts
- Experience of working in manufacturing/warehousing environment.
- IT Skills - Basic computer literacy
- Applicants MUST have VALID FLT licenses that are RTITB, or ISSAR accredited and in DATE in order to be successful - ideally REACH, COUNTERBALANCE and PPT.
- Applicants should have minimum of 3 years FLT experience to be successful.
