Clyde

The Multi Skilled Operative Supervisor - Lifting Operations is based within our Naval Nuclear Clyde business area.

As the Ministry of Defence's commercial partner at HMNB Clyde, Babcock provides specialist engineering support services, including the management of infrastructure and nuclear facilities. We also deliver operational maintenance, upgrades and repairs to support Royal Navy vessels, including the Vanguard and Astute-Class nuclear submarines.

The role

The difference our new Multi Skilled Operative Supervisor - Lifting Operations will make

As a Multi Skilled Operative Supervisor - Lifting Operations you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary support lifting operations activities throughout HNMB Clyde with supervision of all lifting operations, ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with legislation

Day to day, you'll provide supervision for safe lifting. Follow Lifting Plans as directed by the Appointed Person's Safe System of Work. Be conversant with and fully comply with content of briefing from Appointed Person including scope, limit, lifting method statements and risk assessments. Support Appointed Person in achieving lifting related KPI's across all operational areas by communicating feedback of lifting operations. Support the mentoring of selected lifting work party members as directed by the Lifting Operations Manager. Promote safe, compliant, and efficient lifting operations and report all non-conformances, incidents and improvements to Appointed Persons and Lifting Operations Manager in the first instance. Maintaining the flow of work and setting the pace.

Essential experience

* Detailed knowledge, understanding and experience working in a role with strong focus on the lifting and slinging operation and activities.
* SVQ/NVQ Level 3 Controlling Lifting Operations - Supervising Lifts desirable but not essential
* You should hold or have the ability to obtain SC Clearance.
