Role Type: Full time / Permanent
Role ID: SF54588

At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Lead Finance Business Partner at our Bristol site.

The Role

As a Lead Finance Business Partner, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary; partnering with the Portfolio Lead and reporting to the Head of Finance, you will head up a small team and take responsibility for all aspects of the contract accounting.

Day to day, you'll have a mixture of "hands on" work whilst also delegating to your team of three; within the bounds of governance controls, delegated authorities and oversight that form company policy across contracts, you will be given autonomy to lead the area in the way you see fit.

  • The production of financial information for forecasting, budget and contract performance.
  • Line management responsibilities of three team members, including overseeing their continued development and growth.
  • Providing business stakeholders with meaningful and accurate information, that empowers them to drive financial performance of the area.
  • Collaborating with project managers, assisting them with their understanding of financial issues so they are equipped to foresee financial risks before they arise and take pre-emptive mitigating action.

This is a full-time position, that allows for you to work in a hybrid working arrangement between our Bristol site and working from home; the expectation, is to be in the office once a week.

Essential Experience of the Lead Finance Business Partner:

  • Good listening and communication skills, that can be used to understand requirements and tasking as well as influence others around them.
  • A self-starter, who is performance driven with a desire to contribute and impact. You'll be able to work independently and as an active team member.
  • Be able to articulate and present financial issues to both finance and non-finance audiences in a clear concise way.
  • Possess the ability to effectively manage your workload, time and stakeholders in order to meet requirements and priorities in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • A critical thinker who can understand complex issues (balancing the detail and the big picture), using insight/data (evidence) and their judgement to make good decisions and have a positive impact.

Qualifications for the Lead Finance Business Partner:

  • While many others in this role are qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, ACMA, ICAS, ICAEW) or equivalent / similar, it's more fundamental for us that the right candidate has the correct level of experience and attitude.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
