We have a role available for a Mechanical Fitter/Lead Technician to work in Warrington.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Strip, inspect, and record conditions of industrial gearboxes.
* Identify and address areas of concern, producing concise reports.
* Liaise with colleagues to determine failure modes and potential improvements.
* Rebuild gearboxes, perform mechanical fitting, and conduct testing.
* Manage customer interactions regarding technical issues, commissioning, and de-commissioning.
* Overhaul equipment at customer sites, including occasional travel in the UK and potentially overseas.
Lead Technician - Additional Responsibilities:
* Run the workshop in the absence of the Manager, overseeing day-to-day activities.
* Provide technical guidance and develop less experienced staff.
* Manage projects, lead small teams, and ensure safe working practices.
* Collaborate with the Service Coordinator to prioritise and organise activities.
* Exercise judgement in problem-solving and intervention where necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

* Recognised Engineering Qualification (Minimum Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship).
* Good understanding of mechanical systems.
* GCSE Maths and English.

Essential Skills and Experience:
* Practical experience in workshop practices.
* Proficient in manual measurement equipment and reading engineering drawings.
* Ability to rig, lift industrial equipment, and adjust tolerances in assemblies.
* Testing, recording data, and practical knowledge of rotating industrial machinery.
Lead Technician - Additional Skills:
* Acquire technical knowledge on specialised equipment and applications.
* Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
* Effective planning, monitoring progress, and meeting deadlines.

Knowledge Base:
* Familiarity with rotating industrial machinery, component manufacture, and engineering materials.
* Understanding of fasteners, bearings, seals, and standard engineering features.

Advantageous Skills and Experience:
* Mechanical service and repair experience.
* Understanding of gearing systems and geometry.
* Work experience in an industrial, workshop, or manufacturing environment.
* Previous experience in fitting bearings, keys, and building precision rotating equipment.
* Knowledge of engineering materials, properties, treatments, and use of machine tools.
