About the role

The Sales Development Executive is primarily tasked with supporting quote activity, to enable complex deal negotiation and close by the Account Management team. They should be familiar with core energy products and services, able to demonstrate these decision makers within a customer organisation. For sales opportunities with less complex customers, the Sales Development Executive will be responsible for progressing qualified leads through negotiation to closure and contract. The role holder will utilise a variety of tools and methods to ensure they are able to have meaningful conversations with key influencers and decision makers in a customer organisation.

Customers operate within a fast paced, continuously evolving environment giving rise to key challenges including responding to regulatory and market reforms through innovative products, services or processes, creating value in tight margin highly competitive marketplaces, and building trust with customers. Employee mix includes directly sourced contact centre staff and increasingly outsourced capability both on and offshore.

The job holder is fully empowered to make Commercial decisions, consistent with contribution guidelines or equivalent in consultation with relevant stakeholders, and to make other decisions in accordance with the Customers FAL matrix. On occasions they may l be expected to engage with senior stakeholders, escalating where necessary and presenting clear and concise information.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Qualify leads to understand potential sales opportunities and seek support from Senior Account Executive or Account Executives on complex requests.
  • Build strong relationships with customer decision makers
  • Contact prospective customers through calls / emails to introduce EDF Energy's product and service offerings
  • Match customer needs to appropriate products and services, offer solutions and value add to the customers central offering
  • Provide demonstrations of products and services, in particular EDF Energy's digital offerings to prospective and existing customers
  • Manage inbound and outbound sales negotiations from opportunity to close for the smaller less complex customer segment within Medium Business Sales
  • Prioritise own workload and ability to make commercial decisions to deliver against targets
  • Maintain a great understanding of competitors propositions and identify opportunities to present EDF Energy's unique offering using insight data to overcome objections.
  • Use CRM to track and score leads within the pipeline
  • Maintain accurate data in all core systems and adhere to compliance and quality standards

Essential

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to learn and use new technology in a relatively quick manner with instruction
  • Fantastic organisational skills to keep contacts and schedules perfectly in order /
  • Maintains direction and focus through proactive planning and organised approaches to all work
  • Target driven and self motivated
  • Ability to challenge customers and take control of conversations
  • Ability to use Outlook and/or CRM to maintain accurate contacts

Qualifications & Experience Desirable.

  • Strong track record in a high performing outcome-based (or sales based) environment.
  • Experience of the electricity industry is preferred.
  • Experience of working with EDF Energy's core products and services.
