Manpower Engineering are delighted to be working in partnership with a global manufacturing organisation to help them recruit a Quality Engineer for their Skelemersdale site which focuses on the manufacture of Safety Equipment.

Working as part of the quality team you will be responsible for 2 manufacturing lines and your day to day will look like this ;-

  • Quality Activities: Start and complete tasks to improve products, processes, or systems at a program level.
  • Networking: Build relationships with resources in labs, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing.
  • Project Planning: Assist in setting objectives and priorities, suggesting and testing ideas for quality improvements.
  • Documentation: Record results in technical notebooks or electronic files and prepare reports.
  • Training and Leadership: Occasionally train and guide others; lead medium-sized teams and projects.

Key Skills and Requirements

  • Quality Systems: Develop and implement moderate complexity quality systems and processes.
  • Cross-Functional Interaction: Work with various departments and business disciplines.
  • Problem Solving: Use quality tools (e.g., flowcharts, histograms, control charts) and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Innovation: Suggest and test new methods and techniques for quality improvement.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow and promote safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in physical, biological, chemical, mathematical, statistical, or engineering science, or a bachelor's degree plus experience.
  • Certifications: Preferably Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) through ASQ.
  • Quality Systems Knowledge: Basic systems (ISO-9000, MBNQ), statistical tools (Gage R&R, ANOVA), and intermediate tools (sampling, regression, experimental design).
  • Communication Skills: Develop and use skills in listening, reading, writing, speaking, persuading, influencing, and team leading.
  • Technical Skills: Computer literacy and knowledge of applicable software.

If you have worked in a similar role within manufacturing, have sound knowledge of ISO 9001, and are proficient at report writing we would like to speak to you.

If your experience is within the moulding industry this would be a benefit but is not essential.
