The Role
As a Management Accountant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Joining the Marine & Engineering Systems FP&A team at Babcock, covering a maternity leave. As a member of the FP&A team, the successful applicant will join a high-performing finance group which operates in a fast-paced environment, at a crucial and exciting time in the finance function's transformation journey.

Day-to-day, you'll be supporting all month-end, budget and forecast reporting processes for the business unit, ensuring all Group and local requirements are met and delivered on schedule. In addition, the successful applicant will play a significant role in the current finance transformation project and in providing good quality and accurate ad hoc analytical support to the finance leadership team:

  • Assist with month-end reporting processes including the preparation of journals, adhering to Group and Sector standards and timescales.
  • Finance business partner with project and functional teams to control costs and understand movements and variances from budget.
  • Support with the production of the annual budget and reforecasting processes.
  • Play an active role in supporting the finance transformation agenda.
  • Contribution to finance and site-wide continuous improvement projects.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and requires regular travel to Rosyth on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential Experience of the Management Accountant:

  • Demonstratable experience in a similar role.
  • Proven of using an ERP system (IFS / SAP would be desirable).
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate at all levels.
  • High standards and attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills.

Qualifications for the Management Accountant:

  • Recently or part qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) but consideration will also be given to candidates qualified by experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
