Software Developer for AI/ML Digital Construction Applications
Location: Birmingham City University
Duration: 4 months, with the possibility of extension
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Part-time applicants will be considered)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developers/ Computer Science professionals to develop and implement artificial intelligence and machine learning methods tailored to the gas and oil pipeline infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with a team of developers, researchers, and industry professionals to integrate machine learning technologies into practical construction applications.
- Analyse and interpret point cloud data captured by laser scanner to explore the possibility of automating the scan to BIM process for gas and oil pipelines.
- Contribute to the development, optimisation and deployment of algorithms using Python and other relevant machine learning libraries that automate and enhance digital infrastructure processes.
Requirements:
- A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a preference for candidates holding an Upper Second or First Class degree. A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field is desirable
- Candidates with degrees in construction-related courses that emphasise digital skills, such as Architectural Engineering and Digital Construction, are encouraged to apply. A Master's degree or PhD in these areas is desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with popular machine learning libraries.
- Knowledge of scan to BIM processes is desirable but not essential.
Additional Information:
This position is part of a high-profile project funded through external grants, aimed at integrating creating 3D models for gas and oil pipelines using the scan to BIM approach.
