Job Title: Programme Director - Long-Term Partnering Agreement
Location: Bristol + Hybrid Working Arrangements
Compensation: Competitive salary + Benefits
Role Type: Full time / Permanent
Role ID: SF59252

At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Programme Director at our Bristol site.

The role
As a Programme Director, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you will form part of a team integrated with Navy Command and the Submarine Delivery Agency, tasked to design and implement the future operating model and contractual arrangements of the submarine in-service support enterprise, and specifically Babcock's role within a strategic long-term partnering approach with the MoD.

Day-to-day, you'll lead Babcock's internal business winning programme and bid management function to build and successfully deliver a contract quality offer to the MOD as the successor to the current contractual arrangements under the Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP).

  • Support the multi-faceted systems view of the portfolio of activity under FMSP and LTPA, including early implementation of projects to enable the successful transition to the new contractual arrangements.
  • Leadership of the business winning and bid management team, coordinating a portfolio of programmes across multiple business units and functions, to bring together into a contract quality offer.
  • Drive best practice and learning from experience into managing risk, compliance and opportunities through appropriate governance and delegation.
  • Support the development of the Submarine In Service Support Operating Model and ensure the golden threads drive value and benefits into the enterprise.
  • Liaise and develop relationships with key programme partners within FMSP and MoD to support the creation of an integrated transition and mobilisation programme.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite at Babcock Technology Centre, Bristol Business Park and regular travel to HMNB Clyde, near Helensburgh and HMNB Devoport, Plymouth.

Essential experience of the Programme Director

  • Significant relevant experience and subject matter expertise within a complex organisation ideally in defence.
  • An exceptional track record of delivering complex programmes / bids on time, on budget and to the agreed outcome.
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively with senior stakeholders, across borders.
  • The ability to lead teams, develop talent, and appropriate succession plans to meet our future requirements across Babcock.
  • Good connections with leading external thinking and experience of bringing outside perspectives in.

Qualifications for the Programme Director
We value difference and don't have a fixed idea when it comes to background, provided you can show the required level of leadership experience and impact. Due to the nature of the role, the position holder will require SC clearance.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
