Job Title: Young Person Support Worker
Location: Canterbury, Whitstable and Thanet
Salary: £27,285 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week (Mon - Fri, 8:30 am - 5 pm) with rota out-of-hours service
Contract Type: Permanent

Our client a well established provider of housing services is seeking a dedicated Young Person Support Worker to join their team. You will be providing high-quality support and positive outcomes for young individuals in the care service, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause and support young people in their transition to adulthood and independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and Guidance: Provide support and guidance to young people living independently in their homes.
- Skill Development: Assist in developing young people's independent living skills.
- Positive Life Choices: Promote and encourage positive life choices, including social activities, budgeting, and education.
- Care Plans: Update and ensure progress is made with care plans accordingly.
- Liaison: Collaborate with social services and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
- Service Development: Participate in planning, monitoring, review, and evaluation activities to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Equality and Inclusion: Ensure all young people and staff are treated fairly and with consideration of their cultural, religious, and physical needs.
- On-Call Assistance: Provide on-call assistance as required.
- Safeguarding: Address and signpost all safeguarding issues in line with company policies and procedures.
- Team Coordination: Work cohesively with team members to ensure compliant service delivery.
Required Skills:
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Children's Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it within a set timeframe.
- Knowledge: Understanding of The Children's Act and Children's Social Care system is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with young people in a care setting.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, relationship-building abilities, and the capacity to work well under pressure.
- Flexibility: Must be able to travel across a large geographical area on a daily/weekly basis.
- Driving License: Required for the role.
