The role
Are you a skilled Piping Designer looking to contribute to cutting-edge projects in the marine industry? Babcock LGE is seeking a talented individual to join our Engineering Team and play a vital role in delivering liquefied gas carriers and other gas marine projects.
As a Piping Designer, you'll be responsible for creating piping design deliverables, 3D models, and drawings using AutoCAD and Bentley software. Your responsibilities will include:
- Interfacing with Piping Engineers to streamline pipe stress analysis iterative design.
- Interpreting vendor equipment drawings for integration into CAD models.
- Participating in design reviews and client pipework reviews
- Generating intelligent Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Developing plant layout, skid structure, and pipework arrangement 3D models and producing output drawings/documents (e.g., plant general arrangements, piping isometrics, structure detailing, process equipment and pressure vessel detailing, material take offs).
- Actively seeking to anticipate and mitigate problems/difficulties.
This role is full time, Monday to Friday and is based at our Rosyth site, with hybrid working arrangements- 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Piping Designer
- Demonstrable experience working in a relevant CAD role producing high quality 3D piping models, plant layout and piping isometric drawings.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative design team.
- Excellent general awareness of process piping components, routing practices, in line equipment and instrumentation interfaces.
- Ability to competently interpret P&IDs.
- Commercial design astuteness and appreciation of the practical impact of design decisions.
- Highly motivated with an attention to detail.
Qualifications for the Piping Designer
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent academic qualification and demonstrable experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
