My client is currently recruiting for a Site Manager based in Southwick, West Sussex.

This position is to provide management control of the Shoreham Works from a cost centre perspective. He is responsible for meeting budget requirements, effective reporting, efficient and timely production, management of the employees including health and safety, maintenance, environmental controls and stewardship of the assets under control of the Works.

Typically they will work core site hours, however due to the seasonal nature of the business he will be expected to flex hours to suit the needs and requirements of the business at certain times of the year

Key accountabilities

 Plan, co-ordinate and manage all site activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner.

 Plan the production and ensure that this is executed correctly and meets company requirements, i.e. quality etc.

 To ensure accurate stock control of both finished goods and inventory (RM's & packaging)

 To ensure the correct maintenance of machines is implemented and monitored

 Manage the H&S aspects of the operation to meet and/or exceed legislative requirements and Company standards

 To ensure the IMS systems and procedures are adopted and adhered to.

 Develop and manage improvements in the capabilities and competencies of all staff so as to deliver improved operational performance in all areas.

 Develop and implement new and improved operational practices in all aspects across the site with ut any detrimental aspect on H&S or production targets.

 Develop/implement opportunities for cost reduction and minimisation of waste.

 Undertake any relevant training as requested.

 Manage all HR related activities; this includes sickness absenteeism, lateness and discipline. Ensure that consistency is achieved so that the company isn't left exposed.


 My client is looking for a flexible self-starter, with a manufacturing background.
 As the site is extremely busy at certain times of the year this role requires a very much "hands on" approach.
 Experience in a fast moving building materials environment would be ideal, but not essential.
 The job holder will have had previous Managerial/supervisory experience and have ideally completed some form of formal management/supervisory training.
 The role requires a high level of contact with internal/external departments and key customers therefore the job holder needs to have excellent communication skills and be able to develop good working relationships.
 The role requires effective resource management skills to ensure efficient operation of the process
 The job holder needs to be able to combine production and operational capabilities and implement continuous improvement activities to deliver/exceed budget expectations
