Injection Moulding Setter - Birmingham, UK
Hours: 40 hours per week on a 3-shift rotation:
- Mornings: 06:00 - 14:00
- Afternoons: 14:00 - 22:00
- Nights: 22:00 - 06:00
Our client, a leading automotive manufacturing organisation specialising in innovative plastic solutions, is hiring for a skilled Injection Moulding Setter in Birmingham. What you'll be doing:
- Set up and operate injection moulding presses according to production needs.
- Prepare tools and equipment for smooth tool changes.
- Sling and lift tools safely using cranes.
- Present first-off parts for quality inspection, ensuring automotive quality standards are met.
- Configure robot heads and load programmes for automation.
- Communicate faults proactively and collaborate with maintenance teams.
- Complete job packs accurately during tool changes.
- Support troubleshooting and process improvements.
- Conduct safety checks and maintain housekeeping standards.
- Participate in changeover optimisation activities.
- Support trialling of new robotics or moulding methods.
- Assist with additional projects to meet business goals.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience with injection moulding processes; robotics experience is a plus.
- Experience working within automotive or similarly high-volume manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Currently working towards or holding an NVQ Level 2 in Injection Moulding and Tool Setting; NVQ Level 3 is desirable.
- Working towards or holding an Overhead Crane Operation licence, with competence in slings and lifting.
- Strong understanding of moulding machinery, tooling, and process optimisation.
- Excellent communication skills and team collaboration.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
