Finance Analyst
Location: Remote, with travel to Coventry HQ when required
Contract Type: 6 month Fixed Term Contract
Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday
Salary: Up to £65,000 (pro rata) dependant on experience
We are looking for a Finance Analyst to support the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting and analysis across a portfolio of operational contracts! Working closely with Finance Business Partners and Operational teams, the role contributes to month end processes, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reviews.
This is an ideal development role for a part qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant who is eager to build commercial finance and business partnering experience, strengthen financial analysis skills, and grow into a fully-fledged Finance Business Partner.
Responsibilities
- Month end Reporting Support - Prepare and post routine month-end journals including cost accruals and income adjustments.
- Assist with review of contract-level P&Ls, identifying anomalies and supporting resolution of queries.
- Support the Finance Business Partners in analysing monthly and YTD performance, highlighting key variances to budget/forecast.
- Financial Analysis & Insight - Produce regular Project reports and dashboards to track financial performance.
- Assist with analysis risks, and opportunities with the project, escalating issues appropriately.
- Forecasting - Support the creation of periodic reforecasts through data collection, template population, and initial variance analysis.
- Work with Operational colleagues to gather assumptions and ensure alignment with business activity.
- Build effective relationships with Operational teams, supporting with weekly project updates and feeding key findings back to weekly forecasting.
- Monthly revenue reconciliation feedback and corrections with operations post month end.
- Support with master data cleansing and other ad hoc projects
- Collaborate with transactional finance teams to resolve PO, invoicing and ledger issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring processes are followed and helping embed finance best practice.
- Assist with data quality and systems integrity checks
Requirements
- Part qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) and actively studying.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Good understanding of basic accounting concepts and financial statements.
Intermediate Excel skills (lookup functions, pivot tables, basic modelling). - Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive, curious and willing to learn; able to manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines.
- Team player with strong relationship building capabilities.
- Experience in a finance role (e.g., Accounts Assistant, Finance Analyst, or Audit Trainee) would be desirable
- Experience working with operational teams or within a contract-based business environment would be advantageous
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or management accounts would be beneficial
- Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar) would be an advantage
- Commercial awareness with an interest in how operational activity impacts financial performance
