An established and growing transport consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior-level Transport Planner to join their Fareham-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead role on a diverse project portfolio while progressing your career within a collaborative and supportive environment. You'll work across residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use developments, managing projects from inception through to completion and partnering closely with private and public sector clients.
You'll have the opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to the continued growth and development of the transport planning function within the business.
The Role
Manage multiple transport planning projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard.
Produce, review, and approve technical documents including Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes, and supporting planning reports.
Prepare and review drawings such as access layouts, visibility splays, junction designs, and vehicle tracking plans.
Use industry-standard transport modelling software to assess traffic generation, distribution, and highway/network impacts.
Develop evidence to support planning appeals, including Statements of Case and Statements of Common Ground.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, developers, and other project stakeholders.
Attend client meetings, public consultation events, design team meetings, and discussions with Local Highway Authorities.
Prepare fee proposals, quotations, and tender submissions to support business development activities.
Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior members of the transport planning team.
Support senior leadership with project delivery, resource planning, and the ongoing development of the transport planning service.
About You
Degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or another relevant discipline.
Around 5+ years' transport planning experience within a consultancy environment.
Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional institution (e.g. CIHT, TPS, ICE).
Strong understanding of UK transport planning policy, guidance, and design standards.
Proven experience preparing technical reports to support planning applications.
Knowledge of transport modelling software and traffic forecasting methodologies (e.g. TRICS, junction modelling, and network modelling tools).
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary design teams.
Experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues would be beneficial.
