General Building Engineer - Job Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an on?site General Building Engineer based in the Stocken area.
This full time position involves working 39 hours per week across a 7day rota. The role includes working 1 in every 3 weekends, with an additional 15% allowance added to the basic salary for weekend shifts.
Salary: £27,448 - £30,448, depending on experience.
Role Overview
The General Building Engineer will support the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance activities. The role involves working across multiple building disciplines to ensure essential systems and assets remain fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring critical parts are available for statutory tasks
- Managing remedial activities and updating records within the CAFM system
- Carrying out general and semi?skilled maintenance tasks, including work on systems such as CCTV and alarms
- Completing monthly checks and testing fire extinguishers, hydrants and hoses
- Conducting quarterly RCD testing and inspecting misting units
- Maintaining fire doors and undertaking tap temperature and flushing tests in line with water risk assessments
- Carrying out monthly and annual emergency lighting inspections
- Checking and testing smoke vents where required
- Supporting additional maintenance activities as needed
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience across several key building maintenance areas, including:
- Fire systems
- Door and extinguisher maintenance
- Alarm systems
- Emergency lighting
- RCD testing
- Water temperature testing
Additional attributes include:
- Good practical skills across multiple building disciplines
- Competent IT skills
- Ability to work safely and follow established procedures
