General Operative (Machinery Painter)

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and hardworking General Operative to join our team in Durham. The primary responsibility of this role will be painting and coating industrial machinery, ensuring a high-quality finish that meets company standards.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing machinery and components for painting (cleaning, sanding, masking)
• Applying paint coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
• Ensuring a high-quality finish to all machinery and equipment
• Carrying out basic maintenance and upkeep of painting tools and equipment
• Supporting general warehouse and production activities when required
• Following health and safety procedures at all times
• Maintaining a clean and organised work area

Requirements

• Previous experience in painting (industrial, automotive, or similar preferred)
• Experience using spray paint equipment is advantageous
• Good attention to detail and quality standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible and proactive approach to work

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques
• Basic understanding of health & safety regulations
