QC Technician - Night Shift
Location: Preston (Close to City Centre)
Shift: Permanent Nights - Monday to Friday, 22:00-06:00
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Long-term ongoing temporary role
Training: Approx. 4 weeks on days initially
The Opportunity
We are recruiting a QC Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business based near Preston city centre. This is a long-term, ongoing temporary role with strong potential for the right candidate to remain with the business long term. You will work closely with the Operations team to support the delivery of high-quality products and services within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspections
- Carry out day-to-day QC inspections on manufactured and incoming goods
- Inspect customer returned products
- Communicate inspection outcomes clearly and promptly to relevant departments
- Ensure all released products meet required quality standards
- Use internal ERP and complaint management systems accurately
Laboratory Testing
- Conduct all QC testing in line with approved methods and procedures
- Complete testing in a timely manner to avoid production delays
- Maintain calibration of laboratory equipment
- Accurately complete batch sheets and input data into ERP systems
- Report trends, defects, or test failures
Quality & Lab Support
- Assist with or amend QC test procedures as required
- Review and work to QC specifications
- Maintain a clean, organised laboratory environment
- Troubleshoot batch issues identified during testing
- Ensure consumables and equipment are available at all times
Collaboration & Cover
- Provide cover for holidays, absence, and increased workload
- Coordinate with other laboratory technicians to ensure continuous operational support
Personal Development
- Attend relevant training courses
- Develop skills with the opportunity to progress within the quality function
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential
- Experience in a Quality Control, Manufacturing, Production, or FMCG environment
- Previous exposure to laboratory testing and QC inspections
- Practical experience handling building-type or manufactured products
- Understanding of QC inspections on finished goods, goods-in, and returned products
- Ability to support QA activities and customer complaint investigations
Desirable
- Experience working within a chemical laboratory environment

- Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, databases, email)
