Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate a wide range of tools and equipment within the tool room to ensure optimal operational readiness.
  • Assist in the design and fabrication of new tools and fixtures as required for production processes.
  • Ensure all tools and machinery are compliant with health and safety regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool maintenance, repairs, and calibration activities.
  • Collaborate with production teams to understand tool requirements and provide technical support.
  • Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting of tools and equipment to identify issues proactively.
  • Assist in the inventory management of tools and spare parts, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool room efficiency and productivity.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Tool Room Technician or similar role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Toolmaking.
  • Strong technical skills in tool maintenance, repair, and calibration.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and understanding engineering specifications.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, lathes, mills, and other workshop equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to workshop environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Relevant certifications such as City & Guilds or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering are desirable.
