About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sports Grounds Senior Supervisor to join a busy Grounds Team supporting the maintenance and development of high-quality sports facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled grounds professional with sports turf management experience to play a key role in maintaining grass and artificial sports surfaces to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will supervise daily operations, coordinate maintenance activities, ensure health and safety compliance, and help deliver excellent sporting environments for fixtures, training sessions, and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and supervise daily and seasonal grounds maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to a high professional standard.
- Carry out sports turf maintenance including:
- Mowing
- Line marking
- Aeration
- Overseeding
- Topdressing
- Prepare natural and artificial sports pitches for fixtures, training sessions and events.
- Conduct regular inspections of pitches, equipment and facilities.
- Identify, report and manage health and safety concerns.
- Adapt maintenance schedules according to weather conditions and ground requirements.
- Safely operate grounds maintenance machinery and equipment.
- Apply fertilisers and approved treatments in accordance with training and legislative requirements.
- Maintain accurate records relating to maintenance activities, inspections and chemical applications.
- Liaise effectively with sports users, contractors and colleagues.
- Support winter maintenance operations and respond to emergencies as required.
- Undertake occasional overtime during peak operational periods.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Sports Turf Management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in sports grounds maintenance and sports turf management.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- PA1 and PA6 Pesticide Application Certificates.
- Strong knowledge of sports turf maintenance practices and machinery.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within grounds maintenance.
- Ability to supervise workloads and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Requirements
- PA2 Boom Sprayer Certification.
