A leading international engineering and manufacturing organisation specialising in advanced propulsion systems for the defence sector is seeking a Utilities Engineer to join its Facilities team. The business operates across multiple UK and European sites, delivering highly technical solutions within a regulated industrial environment. The Role

The Utilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of site utility systems within a complex industrial environment. The position provides a mechanically biased maintenance service, ensuring reliable site operations while maintaining full compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company procedures.

The successful candidate will support boiler house operations and critical infrastructure systems, ensuring continuity of supply across the site. A BOAS certification is not essential at entry, however the successful individual will be expected to obtain certification and participate in the call out rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring continuity of site utility services

  • Supporting boiler house operations and duties

  • Maintenance and repair of fire systems

  • Maintenance of HVAC systems

  • Steam system maintenance

  • Maintenance of compressed air systems

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

  • Installation work and remedial repairs, replacements and upgrades

  • Responding to urgent reactive maintenance issues

  • General mechanical repairs across site systems

  • Participation in the boiler house call out rota

  • Ensuring site compliance with current regulations and safety standards

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in an engineering related discipline

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience within an industrial or commercial environment

  • Experience maintaining HVAC systems

  • Experience working with fire suppression systems

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • BOAS Certification (IBO)

  • Boiler house operation experience

  • IPAF and PASMA certification

  • Asbestos awareness

  • L8 awareness

  • Experience using CAFM or CMMS systems

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management ability

  • Computer literate

  • Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings
