Core Responsibilities
To change, repair and fit tyres/wheels in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Monitor tyre stock and disposal levels, including stock held by mobile technicians and out of hours suppliers.
To support the smooth running of the workshop including the general upkeep and waste disposal in workshops and the wider site.
Key Duties and Accountability's
- Responsible for the provision of high-quality tyre/wheel maintenance to all the vehicles operated by the Trust and external customers, ensuring that all repairs are carried out in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Replacement/repair of tyres and fitting of road wheels.
- Checking and adjusting wheel balance, alignment and rotation.
- Responsible for the accurate control and issue/replenishment of tyres from stock.
- To assess wheel condition and deem whether fit to use or to be disposed of.
- To prepare wheels for refitting of tyres using the shot blast cabinet to assure that all mating surfaces are free from rust and other contaminants.
- To recognise the need for changes to the tyre fitting process and be able to propose viable alternatives.
- Ensuring work areas and tools are kept tidy and in good working order including general waste, scrap metal and recycling bins/cages.
- To carry out daily eVDI inspection of the two workshop vans and report any issues to the Team Leader if required.
- To provide assistance when required within workshops to carry out extended road tests, collect parts locally, assist Technicians with manual handling tasks, offer advice on wheel and tyre queries and when required accept deliveries of AdBlue and other various large containers using the forklift truck
- To undertaken MOTs (if qualified)
- To maintain the cleanliness of the MOT bay in line with DVSA standards and recording documentation accurately.
Communication Skills
- Advising team members of daily activities
- Advising members of the public/employees on safe operating levels for tyres.
- Negotiating with tyre suppliers
- Liaising with waste management suppliers
System and Policy Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring the recording of accurate stock issue of parts
- Undertaking the correct procedure relating to the raising and completion of a Job Card where applicable
People Responsibilities
- You are responsible for adhering to all Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices throughout the whole of the workshop area
- You must ensure adequate security of the premises and vehicles
Financial Responsibilities
- You will ensure that all monies that are collected are kept safe in accordance with standing financial instructions.
