Transport Shift Manager - Nights (Widnes)

Shift pattern: 4 on / 4 off - 19:00 to 07:00
Salary: Up to £35,500 per annum
We're looking for a proactive and safety-focused Transport Shift Manager to join our night shift team in Widnes. You'll play a key role in keeping this busy transport operation running smoothly, ensuring drivers are dispatched safely and on time while maintaining exceptional service standards.

What you'll be doing:

* Support the Operations Manager to ensure full compliance with all legal and safety requirements, acting as deputy when needed
* Execute the nightly plan for deliveries and collections, managing resources effectively and communicating with customers on any issues
* Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment, ensuring all processes are followed
* Lead and manage the Transport Office, Shunters, and Night Shift drivers
* Ensure all staff are trained, competent, and working in line with company procedures
* Dispatch drivers within their allocated times to meet contractual SLAs
* Minimise damages across the operation
* Coordinate with breakdown services when vehicle or trailer issues arise
* Manage emails, driver dispatch, and complete a comprehensive nightly handover

What we're looking for:

* Experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure operational environment
* Previous experience supervising and developing teams within a transport setting
* Strong understanding of transport compliance, including driver hours regulations
* Confident using IT systems for emails, dispatch tasks, and reporting
* Team-building and people management skills
* Ability to think quickly, solve problems, and keep the operation running smoothly
* Experience working with C+E drivers (desirable)
