Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Accrington (On-site)

Join a specialist engineering team designing and delivering advanced, bespoke machinery used across multiple industries. This is a hands-on mechanical design role where you'll take concepts from initial idea through to manufacture, test and customer delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

• Creating conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for bespoke machinery.
• Ensuring compliance with Machinery Directive and relevant standards.
• Carrying out Risk Assessments, FMEA and engineering calculations.
• Supporting design reviews and contributing to technical discussions.
• Preparing required technical and legislative documentation.
• Liaising with customers and suppliers on project requirements.
• Producing content for operation and maintenance manuals.
• Designing components suitable for cost-effective manufacture.
• Supporting mechanical build teams during assembly, testing and commissioning.
• Providing customer support when needed.
• Promoting safe working practices across all engineering activities.

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical design experience within machinery, automation or bespoke equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and calculations.
• Experience with FEA, risk assessment and FMEA.
• Knowledge of Machinery Directive compliance.
• Confident working with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong communication skills, including customer and supplier liaison.
• CAD proficiency and experience designing for manufacture (DFM).
