Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant and equipment

  • Diagnose mechanical faults and perform effective repairs to minimise downtime

  • Conduct routine inspections and servicing of machinery

  • Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, safe systems of work, and company policies

  • Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment in line with engineering drawings

  • Strip, inspect, repair, and rebuild mechanical components, including:

    • Gearboxes

    • Pumps

    • Motors

    • Conveyors

    • Bearings and shafts

  • Liaise with external contractors when required

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the work area

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills

  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics

  • A recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)

  • Experience working with LOTO, permits, RAMS, and risk assessments

  • A flexible and adaptable approach to changing production demands

  • Strong attention to detail and quality

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and respond to callouts as required
