Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant and equipment
Diagnose mechanical faults and perform effective repairs to minimise downtime
Conduct routine inspections and servicing of machinery
Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, safe systems of work, and company policies
Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives
Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment in line with engineering drawings
Strip, inspect, repair, and rebuild mechanical components, including:
Gearboxes
Pumps
Motors
Conveyors
Bearings and shafts
Liaise with external contractors when required
Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the work area
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
A recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
Experience working with LOTO, permits, RAMS, and risk assessments
A flexible and adaptable approach to changing production demands
Strong attention to detail and quality
Good communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and respond to callouts as required
