Principal Design Engineer

Seeking a Principal Design Engineer with expertise in drainage design, particularly using MicroDrainage software, and a solid understanding of Section 104/106/185 agreements. This role is open to both experienced Principal Engineers and those aspiring to take on their first Associate position.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver designs within the specified timeline and budget.
• Manage resource allocation to ensure optimal utilization of team members on priority tasks.
• Collaborate with senior management to support projects across various offices and disciplines.
• Incorporate requirements from relevant authorities and statutory bodies into designs.
• Undertake and verify design information and reports, providing constructive feedback.
• Ensure compliance with MCHW, DMRB, and local design guidelines in all designs.
• Foster innovation and continuous improvement within the team while exercising sound independent judgment.
• Adhere to Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations, while proactively managing risks.

Essential Qualifications

• Proficiency in highway drainage design and MicroDrainage software.
• Experience in Section 278 and Section 38 highway design projects.
• Strong management skills with the ability to lead teams amid a diverse workload.
• Technical expertise in various highway design environments.
• Proven track record in project management for highway projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
• Ability to mentor and supervise Highway Design staff effectively.
• In-depth knowledge of highways technical documents within the DMRB framework.
• Familiarity with the Civils 3D CAD package.
• Experience in developing contract documents as per relevant highway contracts.
• Capability to advise clients on technical issues in the highway structures sector at a senior level.
