Reports To: Rigging Supervisor / Lifting Supervisor

Role Overview


We are seeking an experienced Rigger to support lifting and rigging operations at Hinkley Point C (HPC). The successful candidate will be responsible for safely carrying out rigging duties associated with heavy lifting activities, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures, safety standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out rigging and lifting duties in line with approved lift plans and method statements.
  • Inspect lifting accessories and rigging equipment prior to use, ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose.
  • Attach and detach loads safely using appropriate lifting gear and techniques.
  • Support crane operations by preparing, securing, and guiding loads during lifting activities.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and compliance in a highly regulated nuclear construction environment.
  • Work closely with lifting teams, supervisors, crane operators, and other trades to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Report defects, hazards, near misses, and unsafe practices in accordance with site procedures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and ongoing training initiatives.
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organised, and free from hazards.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Rigger on large-scale construction, industrial, infrastructure, energy, or nuclear projects.
  • Strong understanding of lifting operations and rigging practices.
  • Ability to interpret lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Recognised Rigging Qualification.
  • CPCS Slinger/Signaller or equivalent (desirable).
  • Safety Critical Medical (desirable).
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working at Hinkley Point C or on major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supporting complex and heavy lifting operations.
  • Knowledge of nuclear industry standards and procedures
