Systems Engineer

Location: On‑site in Accrington

Our client is a leading engineering organisation delivering advanced, custom‑built machinery across multiple industries. They are looking for a Systems Engineer to design, integrate and optimise complex electromechanical systems, working across mechanical, electrical, control and software disciplines.

What You'll Do

  • Develop system architectures and translate customer requirements into technical designs.
  • Define subsystem interfaces and support full mechanical‑electrical‑software integration.
  • Lead system analysis, feasibility work, risk assessments and design reviews.
  • Produce and maintain FDS documents, control philosophies and test plans.
  • Support machine build, FAT/SAT, commissioning and customer interactions.
  • Diagnose system‑level issues and drive engineering improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and support documentation for manuals.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with complex electromechanical systems or bespoke machinery.
  • Strong understanding of automation, PLCs, sensors, motion control and industrial networks.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics and system documentation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and cross‑functional communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (CE/Machinery Directive/EN ISO 13849) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Siemens PLCs and CAD/CAE tools is beneficial.
