Lab Porter
Location: Basingstoke
Hours: Mon - Thursday from 08:00 till 16:00 Friday 08:00 till 14:30
Pay Rate: £13.20 per hour

Join the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and support the day-to-day running of a busy microbiology laboratory. This role is ideal for someone who is practical, organised, and enjoys working in a laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload laboratory autoclaves used for sterilising equipment
• Dispose of microbiological and hazardous waste following safety guidelines
• Wash laboratory glassware by hand or using a dishwasher
• Prepare basic laboratory materials such as agar plates and media
• Restock and order laboratory consumables
• Help maintain stock cultures and support the laboratory team
• Keep the laboratory clean, safe, and well organised
• Report equipment faults to the engineering team
• Ensure laboratory supplies are available for staff each week

Requirements

• Good organisational and planning skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Flexible and able to manage multiple tasks
• Practical and hands-on approach
• GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science are preferred
