Catering Assistant

Manpower UK are recruiting Catering Assistants on behalf of our public sector client.

Location: Merthyr Tydfil

Job Type: Part-time. There are three positions available 16, 24, or 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work).

Contract: Temporary, ongoing

Hours: Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work

Hourly rate: £12.08 per hour (rising in April 2025). Enhanced rates for weekends.

Start date: Immediate subject to references and DBS check. Manpower UK pays for the cost of the DBS check.

The Role
As a Catering Assistant working primarily in the Coffee Shop, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and assisting in the smooth running of the catering area. This is a hands-on role where you'll help with food preparation, serving, and maintaining cleanliness.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the preparation and serving of food and beverages in the Coffee Shop.
2. Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained in the kitchen and serving areas.
3. Handle customer orders and ensure all customer needs are met in a friendly and professional manner.
4. Assist with stock rotation and maintaining a well-organised food service area.
5. Ensure all food safety guidelines are followed at all times.
6. Work as part of a team to deliver high-quality service.

Requirements:

1. Previous catering or customer service experience (preferred).
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Good attention to detail and a positive attitude towards work.
4. Flexibility to work Monday to Friday with occasional weekend shifts.
5. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (training will be provided).
6. Level 2 - Food Hygiene Certificate (Manpower UK can support with this)
