QC Associate Scientist
Location: Basingstoke
Hours: Mon-Thu 8:00-16:00, Fri 8:00-14:30
Pay Rate: £13.55 per hour

Join the microbiology quality control team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where your work helps make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a QC Associate Scientist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our products meet the highest safety and quality standards through meticulous testing and analysis.

Main Duties

• Perform microbiology quality control testing
• Prepare laboratory media for testing
• Record and track test results in SAP
• Help investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results
• Use basic lab techniques (pipetting, streaking, plate pouring)
• Check and maintain lab equipment
• Help with cleaning, waste management, and stocking supplies
• Work with teams such as QC, QA, Production, and Planning
• Follow laboratory safety and quality procedures

Requirements

• Degree (or studying towards) in Microbiology or related science
• Basic laboratory skills
• Ability to follow SOPs and testing methods carefully
• Good numeracy and attention to detail
• Experience in QC microbiology labs is helpful

Work Environment

• Laboratory-based role
• Casual dress code (jeans, t-shirt, jumper etc.)
• Hair tied back if long, short nails required
• Safety shoes and PPE provided
